Naturopathic Healthcare

Naturopathic physicians are doctors trained to provide individual and family healthcare and to emphasize the use of natural therapies to prevent and treat acute and chronic illnesses. Naturopathics physicians educate patients about why they are unhealthy or struggling with disease and provide them with the tools for achieving optimal health. NDs listen closely to each patient in order to provide them with the best scientifically-based recommendations for healing. Naturopathic physicians (NDs) use the most natural therapies possible to stimulate the innate healing capacity within each person.

Naturopathic Methods

Naturopathic medicine is defined by its principles. Methods and modalities are selected and applied based upon these principles in relationship to the individual needs of each patient. Naturopathic physicians are primary care and specialty doctors who address the underlying cause of disease through effective, individualized natural therapies that integrate the healing powers of body, mind and spirit. Diagnostic and therapeutic methods are selected from various sources and systems, and will continue to evolve with the progress of knowledge.

Naturopathic Practice

Naturopathic practice includes the following diagnostic and therapeutic modalities: nutritional medicine; botanical medicine; naturopathic physical medicine including naturopathic manipulative therapy; public health measures and hygiene; counseling: minor office procedures; homeopathy; acupuncture- with additional certification and licensure; natural childbirth – with additional certification, and appropriate methods of laboratory and clinical diagnosis.

Philosophy of Care

Naturopathic physicians are unique in providing diagnosis and treatment that bridges both conventional and natural medicine perspectives; they integrate scientific research with the healing powers of nature.

The goal of a naturopathic physician is to employ therapies that support and promote the body's natural healing process, leading to the highest state of wellness. As professional leaders and pioneers in science-based natural medicine, naturopathic physicians advocate the development of professional standards, accountability, and regulation of all forms of medicine in all jurisdictions to maintain public safety and freedom of choice in health care. Further, we support broad inclusion, collaboration and equal access in the health care system at all levels.
